Adding Otowa's (canon) line even derails Enishi's importance ("must be frustrating not knowing how many of us there are.hope you suffer"). In the Jinchu movie, the minor characters were fixated on causing trouble for Kenshin/Tokyo, but did not help to amplify Enishi's deep-seated hatred. For instance, Kenshin explains to Misao how a suffering village living with spartan rules is typical for a guy like Shishio.and that's enough to already scare Misao! Each character in the story here carries a part of Shishio's character development, and slowly conveys the message to us that Kenshin has no other reason than to stop Shishio.

In the Kyoto arc, every character and even Kenshin himself builds up Shishio and his sinister plans, without even meeting Shishio yet. The next major blunder for me was the lack of focus on the right characters.
#RUROUNI KENSHIN KYOTO INFERNO KICKASS MOVIE#
So the first failed point of the movie was having the plot focus on the wrong part of the story. Every ransacked village, every duel (except Aoshi) conveyed a singular message that culminated to the final boss, that is Shishio. All it did was establish that the Chinese Mafia and the Comrades were sowing fear and anarchy in Tokyo while Enishi trots along doing his own little side quest.Ĭontrast this to the Kyoto arc live action, where all of the fight scenes were contributory to Shishio's philosophy and maleficence. All of the major fight scenes in the movie, albeit kickass, were not even connected to Enishi's hatred and rage at all. Personally speaking, I felt that they failed to establish the fact that the "Personal War" of Enishi was the actual main point of Jinchu.

But after having watched it a couple of times now, I can finally pinpoint what I did not enjoy about the film. After such a long time, it was great to have finally seen the Jinchu arc adapted for the big screen.
